1. Ownership During the Commission
All concepts, drafts, proofs, and works in progress remain the exclusive property of the Studio until the commission is paid in full. Use of any unreleased or unpaid design, including watermarked previews, is unauthorized.
2. Rights Upon Full Payment
Upon payment in full, the client receives a perpetual, worldwide license to use the final delivered design for their ministry’s purposes: documents, vestments, signage, web, social media, merchandise for their own congregation, and all ordinary ministry use. For most clients, this functions as full practical ownership of their seal.
3. What the License Does Not Include
- Reselling the design, or licensing it to other ministries or organizations
- Claiming design authorship or registering the artwork itself as the client’s own creative work
- Modifying the seal and presenting the altered version as the Studio’s work
- Using rejected or unpurchased concepts. Unchosen concepts remain Studio property and may be reworked for future clients.
Clients who require an exclusive full copyright transfer or buyout (for example, for denominational registration) may purchase one; it is quoted separately in writing.
4. Studio Portfolio Rights
The Studio retains the perpetual right to display completed commissions in its portfolio, on its website, on its social media, and in its marketing, subject to any written embargo under the Terms of Service.
5. Templates & Collection Designs
Template Custom purchases license a customized version of a Studio collection design for the purchasing ministry’s use. The underlying template remains Studio property and continues to be sold and customized for other clients. Template purchases are not exclusive.
6. Third-Party & Denominational Marks
Where a client requests inclusion of denominational emblems, jurisdictional marks, or other third-party symbols, the client is responsible for having permission to use them, per the Terms of Service.
